Jozani Forest

Jozani Forest is one of the most popular places to visit in Zanzibar. This is the last sanctuary in the world to see the Zanzibar red colobus monkey, which is only endemic to this forest.

Jozani forest is home to the red Colobus monkey. Found only on the main island of Zanzibar it is recognized as a separate specie and is said to be endemic to Zanzibar. These monkeys are full of character, and roam freely. The forest has over 2,512 acres that includes the whole ground water forest, coral rag forest and salt marsh area.
