Arabuko Sokoke Forest Tour - Half day

Home to 20% of Kenya’s bird species, 30% of butterfly specie, and 24 rare and endemic bird, mammal, and butterfly species, Arabuko-Sokoke is a true paradise for nature lovers.

The forest is home to 40 recorded mammal species, including the African Elephant, African Buffalo, Caracal, Civet, Syke’s Monkeys, Yellow Baboons, and the Lesser Galago (Bushbaby). Some of Kenya’s rarest mammals also reside here, such as the Golden-rumped Elephant-shrew, the Sokoke Bushy-tailed Mongoose, and the elusive Ader’s Duiker.

Over 270 bird species have been identified in the forest, including the Clarke’s Weaver, found only in Arabuko-Sokoke and a small area 30 km to the north. Other globally threatened species include: Amani Sunbird, East Coast Akalat, Sokoke Scops Owl, Sokoke Pipit, Spotted Ground Thrush.

In addition to birds and mammals, the forest supports 49 reptile species and 25 amphibian species, making it one of Kenya’s richest ecosystems. A highlight of the experience is the Nyari Viewpoint, a raised platform offering a panoramic view over the forest canopy and stretching out toward the Indian Ocean. It’s the perfect spot for photography, meditation, or simply taking in the forest’s grandeur.
